The Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands is blessed with the presence of dedicated Religious Sisters who belong to various Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. These women have devoted their lives to following Christ through vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and they play a vital role in our community. There are currently no male religious communities in the Diocese.
There are four Institutes of Religious Sisters within our Diocese, living in 5 communities. The members of these communities are drawn from different nationalities and backgrounds. These religious orders are:
The Religious Sisters in our diocese are committed to serving the spiritual and physical needs of our community. They engage in a wide range of ministries, including:
Education: Teaching in our schools and providing catechetical instruction to children and adults.
Healthcare and Ministry to the Sick: Offering compassionate care and providing support to the sick and shut-ins, taking the Eucharist to the homebound.
Social Services: Assisting the poor and marginalized through various outreach programs, food banks, and shelters, especially by collaborating with the Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands
Pastoral Care: Supporting parish life through liturgical services, and accompaniment of the young, among other things.

Their communities need help to meet up with their daily living expenses, and some of them live in rented apartments.
