JUBILEE YEAR PRAYER
In preparation for the 250^th Anniversary
of presence in this territory.

Eternal Father,

In this, the Jubilee Year
of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral,
we praise you for all the blessings
we have received
over the past 250 years of our existence.

We bless You for the lives
of all those who, throughout the centuries, 
have helped build this vibrant community
of love and service. 
May they rest eternally
in Your divine and merciful presence. 

We give You thanks
for all the people that continue
to gather in this Cathedral to worship You,
striving to turn away from sin
and follow the teachings of the faithful disciples
of Your Son, Jesus-Christ. 

May Your Holy Spirit continue to lead us
on the path of faith, hope and charity,
so that in every aspect of our lives,
and inspired by the example
of our Patron Saints Peter and Paul,
we may always be 
joyous witnesses of Jesus Christ,
in the world.

Prayer for the Synod:
ADSUMUS SANCTE SPIRITUS

We stand before You, Holy Spirit,
as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us,
make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go
and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful;
do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance
lead us down the wrong path
nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth
and what is right.
All this we ask of You,
who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the Father and the Son,
forever and ever.

PRAYER TO SAINT PETER 

O Holy Apostle,
because you are the Rock
upon which the Almighty God
has built His Church,
obtain for me, I pray you,
lively Faith, firm Hope and burning love,
complete Detachment from myself,
Contempt of the world,
Patience in adversity, Humility in prosperity, Recollection in prayer, Purity of heart,
a Right Intention in all my works,
Diligence in fulfilling the duties
of my state of life,
Constancy in my resolutions,
Resignation to the will of God,
and Perseverance in the grace of God
even unto death;
that so, by means of your intercession
and your glorious merits,
I may be made worthy to appear
before the Chief and eternal Shepherd of Souls, Jesus-Christ,
Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
lives and reigns forever.

PRAYER TO SAINT PAUL

Saint Paul,
You traveled the world,
never quite knowing
where the Spirit would lead you next. 
You journeyed in faith
and accepted beatings,
imprisonment, shipwreck,
and ultimately, execution,
because of your faith in Jesus-Christ. 
Help me to accept the great adventure
of leading a life faithful to the words of Jesus,
my Master, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. 
May I ask myself
“Where does God want me to go today?” 
On the journey, may I love,
in the way you taught the Corinthians,
and be willing to endure all things
for the sake of the Gospel. 
Pray with me that I may heed
the voice of the One who called you
on the road to Damascus,
and set you on the path that leads to life. 
Amen.

HURRICANE SEASON PRAYER
 
God, All-Powerful Father,
Christ, Our Savior,
Spirit of Love,
You reveal Yourself in the depths of our being,
drawing us to share-in Your life and love. 
Be near to the people formed in Your image,
close to the world that Your love brings to life.

Save us from all harm,
draw us ever closer to You
as we confidently seek Your protection
from the destructive force of all storms
which frighten us. 
Let every hurricane or other threat of disaster
serve only to blow us ever more securely
into Your loving, merciful embrace.

We ask this, Father,
with the intercession of the Virgin Mother,
Mary, Lady of all Nations,
through Your Son, Jesus-Christ,
and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

We thank you for the beauty

land and the challenge of the cities.

for one another, and for our homes.

Eternal Father, I offer You
the most Precious Blood
of Your Divine Son,
Jesus, in union with the Masses
said throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,

for sinners in the universal Church,
those in my own home
and within my family.
