Our Mission
The Office of Finance is dedicated to the responsible stewardship of the financial resources of the Diocese of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands. We strive to support the pastoral mission of the Church through prudent financial management, transparency, and accountability.

Role and Responsibilities
The Office of Finance, under the direction of the Diocesan Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for:- Financial Planning and Budgeting: Developing and overseeing the annual diocesan budget.
- Accounting and Reporting: Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing regular financial statements.
- Parish Financial Support: Providing guidance and support to parishes in financial matters.
- Investment Management: Overseeing diocesan investments in accordance with Catholic social teaching.
- Risk Management: Managing insurance programs and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with civil laws, tax regulations, and canon law in financial matters.

Services ProvidedOur office offers various services to support the financial health of the diocese:
- Parish Financial Reviews: Conducting periodic reviews of parish finances to ensure best practices.
- Training and Workshops: Offering financial management training for parish staff and volunteers.
- Grant Management: Assisting in the administration of grants received by the diocese.
- Capital Campaign Support: Providing financial guidance for diocesan and parish capital campaigns.
- Financial Counseling: Offering financial advice to diocesan entities and programs.

Diocesan Finance CouncilThe Diocesan Finance Council, a consultative body required by canon law, works closely with our office. The council:
- Advises the Bishop on significant financial matters
- Reviews and recommends approval of the annual budget
- Provides oversight on major financial decisions
