TODAY (White) Sir 3:2-6, 12-14; Col 3:12-21; Mt 2:13-15, 19-23

NEXT WEEK (White) Is 60:1-6; Eph 3:2-3a, 5-6; Mt 2:1-12

All the wonderful gifts of grace bestowed upon the Holy Family—Jesus’ miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit, the virgin’s birth—did not preserve this family from hardship. They faced challenges and pressures. Yet they responded faithfully and obediently to Gods’ messages and will for them. The Holy Family was not exempt from life-threatening difficulties. Rather, it was in the midst of difficulty that their holiness was tested, deepened, and revealed as a faithful and obedient response to God. This feast calls us to be this same kind of holy family.
