Fourth Sunday of Advent
December 23, 2012

TODAY (White) Mi 5:1-4a, Heb 10:5-10, Lk 1:39-45

NEXT WEEK (White) Sir 3:2-6, 12-14; Col 3:12-21; Lk 2:41-52

Mary does a natural thing when one has good news to share—she makes a visit to a relative, especially this relative, because Elizabeth is pregnant too. Mary went in haste to Elizabeth’s house, entered, and greeted her. Elizabeth recognized and responded to the mystery taking place. She expressed astonishment, wonder, amazement: “how does this happen to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me.” One woman carries the infant who is born to be precursor. The other carries the infant who is born to be Savior.

A Christmas Blessing
May all the days of all the years
That God has still in store
Be filled with every joy and grace,

Beside you ever stay,
And that’s the golden wish we have
For you, this Christmas Day!
