Second Sunday of Advent
December 9, 2012

TODAY (Violet): Bar 5:1-9; Phil 1:4-6, 8-11;Lk 3:1-6

NEXT WEEK (Violet): Zep 3:14-18a, Phil 4:4-7, Lk 3:10-18

John calls us to ask whether our path is taking us closer to God as well as opening up for others the way to God. Smooth paths—those unmarred by false knowledge, misguided perceptions, forgotten values—are those which help us focus on God and root out anything that keeps us from God. Smooth paths are those which increase our love for God and others, prompting us to bring others along the same smooth and straight path on which we are journeying toward final fulfillment with God.
