Twenty-Sixth Sunday In Ordinary Time

September 29, 2013

TODAY (Green) Am 8:4-7: 1 Tm 6:11-16: Lk 16:19-31

NEXT WEEK (Green) Hb 1:2-3; 2:2-4; 2 Tm 1:6-8, 13-14; Lk 17:5-10

The rich man in the gospel can neither see nor hear; he does not see Lazarus in need at his door; he does not listen to Moses and the Prophets who guide him in the right ways. The rich man is condemned because his self-contained, self-satisfied lifestyle was not faithful to the covenant. We who live today are to hear and put into practice the truth of the gospel affirmed by Jesus who rose from the dead. By so doing, we choose now on which side of the chasm we will be in the next life.

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP:
Financial support is essential to the church’s mission and individual Christian growth. You can contribute through:
Regular giving and pledging. These include: weekly offerings and regular charitable contributions. Tithing is a way to set aside a portion of your income for your church. These methods help make it convenient for you to contribute to your church. Remember, the question isn’t “How much should I give?” The question is “Am I giving all I can?”
For everyone to whom much is given, much will be required”… Luke 12:48.
By giving to the church, you put your resources in the God’s hands.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING, and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall, as a reminder to support your church.

MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES
God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
