Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 7, 2014

TODAY (Green) Ez 33:7-9; Rom 13:8-10; Mt 18;15-20

NEXT WEEK (Red) Nm 21:4b-9; Phil 2:6-11; Jn 3:13-17

Jesus acknowledges inevitable conflicts arising among those living in the community of the church. Rifts in relationship between members of the church are actually rifts in the relationship with Jesus himself. Healing fractures ensures that members of the church remain in relationship with Jesus and grow in love for one another. The impulse for resolving conflicts comes from Jesus himself and his continued Presence in the community. The response to Jesus must come from the members of the church and their work of reconciliation.
