Twenty-first Sunday In Ordinary Time

August 25, 2013

TODAY (Green) Is 66:18-21; Heb 12:5-7, 11-13; Lk 13:22-30

NEXT WEEK (Green) Sir 3:17-18, 20, 28-29; Heb 12:18-19, 22-24a; Lk 14:1, 7-14

Entering the narrow gate to salvation is not guaranteed by privilege or tradition (those who perceive themselves to be first), but guaranteed by openness to the in-breaking of the Messiah (those who perceive themselves to be last). The gate is narrow because the way is difficult—journeying with Jesus leads to Jerusalem and the cross. The strength needed to persist on this journey comes reclining “at [his] table in the kingdom of God. “It comes from eating and drinking the messianic Food with the Messiah. Liturgy

BE A STEWARDSHIP OF TIME AND TALENT: There so much work to be done, and there’s no time to waste! Make a plan: Make specific plans on how to achieve your goals. Use time effectively. Set aside some time every day for personal and family prayer. Use your gifts to help change the lives of others. Develop talents...God- given talents are a wonderful blessing. And, developing your talents can be a source of fulfillment. Rejoice in your talents... God has given you unique gifts. Don’t focus on what you can’t do. Wisdom comes from appreciating your talents… and accepting your limitations! Use your talents… giving stewards use their talents to improve others’ lives. Follow Jesus’ example and you’re your gifts to reach out to others. For example: Feed the hungry; Care for children and the elderly. House the homeless.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING, and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall, as a reminder to support your church.
