NEXT WEEK (Green) Gn 18:1-10a; Col 1:24-28; Lk 10:38-42

What is written in the law?” Jesus asks the “scholar of the law.” Many would tend to answer by citing the Ten Commandments or civil law. But the lawyer in the gospel answered correctly when he named love as the law. Law is not about keeping rules, but about loving others. Eternal life is not inherited by keeping laws, but by caring for others and treating them with mercy. The law of love teaches us to love, which is nothing less than the unconditioned gift of self. St. Ann’s Goal-$40,000.00
The public phase of our Bishop’s appeal 2013 will concluded on Pentecost Sunday. As of May 13, the parishes have raised $132,937 or 47% of the parish goal of $285,000.We are grateful to all those who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal. To make our goal, we need everyone’s participation. For your convenience, you can still make a pledge, and pay it in installments. The Bishop’s Appeal will formally end on December 31, 2013, so that you have ample time to fulfill your pledge. Our Catholic Schools, Catholic Charities and Evangelization efforts need your support. Your gift helps feed the hungry and gives safe shelter to mothers and children in desperate need. Please support the Bishop’s Appeal during this year when we seek to grow in our Catholic Faith, and put it ever more into action!

From the Mother’s Club
Fellow Parishioners, on Sunday, July 28, we celebrate Our Patronal Feast. There will be an afternoon of Prayer and Praise in the Marian Hall beginning at 3:00 p.m., followed by a light reception. As usual, The Mother’s Club seeks your help for donation of 1) cake, 2) fruit punch, 3) water. Please call Clara Xavier (277-9104) or call the Church (778-0484) to list your names and donations. All donations will be collected before the weekend Masses on July 27 - 28. Cash is also welcome. Many thanks!

TITHING becomes easier if we set the amount we want to give aside as the Lord’s portion and give it to him. Whether it’s the local church or some charitable agency that receives the money, the tithe is given to God himself, and God recompenses the tither, when and how it pleases him to do so. “Tithing,” says one of its enthusiastic proponents “will never take you one step closer to the poorhouse. When you open your wallet, God opens his heart. How can you be the loser?”
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a reminder to support your church.

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
