Fourteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time

July 7, 2013

TODAY (Green) Is 66:10-14c; Gal 6:14-18; Lk 10:1-12, 17-20

NEXT WEEK (Green) Dt 30:10-14; Col 1:15-20; Lk 10:25-27

Jesus sends his disciples out to plant the seed of the Good News and harvest its fruit of peace and the
in-breaking of the kingdom of God. The “kingdom of God is at hand” because wherever disciples are present and received, God is present and received. Despite the disciples facing “wolves” and sometimes being rejected, their labor will bear fruit for it is God’s power that works through them. For this divine power and presence the disciples—and we—we rejoice.

St. Patrick’s Church Prayer Vigil against abortion will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Beeston Hill. We pray the 15 decades of the rosary with the prayer to St. Michael, the Archangel, in reparation for the terrible evil of the killing of our unborn. The vigil takes one hour, and all are invited to join us.

Thank you for your generous support of the essential work of the Holy Father and his charitable acts through the Peter’s Pence Collection. Our contributions will be combined with those from our brothers and sisters around the world to help the Holy Father reach out to those in need. Thank you for being a Pilgrim of Charity through your generosity.

The Catholic Islander for the month of July is available at the doors of the church. Please read it and pass on the good news to a friend. You can also find the July issue and previous issues online at

St. Ann’s Goal-$40,000.00
The public phase of our Bishop’s appeal 2013 will conclude this weekend on Pentecost Sunday. As of May 13, the parishes have raised $132,937 or 47% of the parish goal of $285,000.We are grateful to all those who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal. To make our goal, we need everyone’s participation. For your convenience, you can still make a pledge, and pay it in installments. The Bishop’s Appeal will formally end on December 31, 2013, so that you have ample time to fulfill your pledge. Our Catholic Schools, Catholic Charities and Evangelization efforts need your support. Your gift helps feed the hungry and gives safe shelter to mothers and children in desperate need. Please support the Bishop’s Appeal during this year when we seek to grow in our Catholic Faith, and put it ever more into action!

As stewards of God’s good gifts, we shall have to render an account of our stewardship to him. We shall have to report to him on how we used or misused for his profusion of gifts, all of which were to be used for his glory. Tithing is the test of our Christian Stewardship, our Declaration of Dependence on the God who made us, who enables us to earn our keep, and who wants us to manage our possessions responsible and wisely.
Tithing becomes easier if we set aside the Lord’s portion and give it to him.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a reminder to support your church.

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
