Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 3, 2011

TODAY (Green))         NEXT WEEK (Green)
 Zec 9:9-10                    Is 55:10-11
Rom 8:9, 11-13              Rom 8:18-23
Mt 11:25-30                   Mt 13:1-23
“Come to me all you who labor and are  burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). These words of our Savior seem to be on stark contrast to the previous chapter from the Gospel, when we were told that if we do not take our crosses, we are not worthy of Christ. Connecting these two messages might help us on our faith journeys. Being a follower of Christ surely means that we must embrace the cross, in its mystery of both suffering and triumph. This is something that we need not do alone, for the burden is often too heavy for us to carry by ourselves. Who, then, do we turn to? We can turn to the Body of Christ—the community of disciples gathered for worship. When we find the burden too heavy, let us remember that we can share that burden with our Christian brothers and sisters, who can help bring us rest.

We are grateful to all those who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal. To make our goal, we need every one’s participation. No matter the amount of your gift, it will be appreciated. For your convenience, you can still make a pledge and pay it in installments. The Bishop’s Appeal will formally end on December 31, 2011, so that you have ample time to fulfill your pledge. Our CatholicSchools, Catholc Charities and Office of Evangelization need your support. Your gift helps feed the hungry and gives safe shelter to mothers and children in desperate need. Thank you and may God Bless each of you who have helped to make a difference!

It’s wise and responsible use of the special gifts God entrusts to us. TIME: It’s a priceless period of opportunity which we can use to fulfill our life’s potential or waste on useless pursuits. But once gone, time can never be reclaimed. We are expected, but not forced, to use these gifts to benefit others and fulfill God’s mission.
TALENT: Each of us is given different abilities that we can use to benefit one another. It is up to us to recognize and develop these talents. “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” 1 Peter 4:10. Tithing becomes easier if we set aside the Lord’s portion and give it to him.
Your giving is the key to the success of church plans and programs. To help us met our obligations, please be about TITHING and become GOOD STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a weekly reminder to support your church.
The Blue Pieta Prayer book has arrived. It is also available in large print, (Green Cover).  We also have Sunday, Weekday Missals and assorted Novena Prayer books and Rosary of Liberation. Come see!
Please keep in the charity of your prayers the sick amongst us.

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
