Twelfth Sunday In Ordinary Time

June 23, 2013

TODAY (Green) Zec 12:10-11; 13:1; Gal 3:26-29; Lk 9 :18-24

NEXT WEEK (Green) 1 Kgs 19:16b, 19-21; Gal 5:1, 13-18; Lk 9:51-62

What the disciples answer as the general perception about who Jesus is—John, Elijah, a prophet—is in sharp contrast to Peter’s confession of Jesus as “The Christ of God.” What Peter doesn’t know at this point, however, is that the Messiah is One who must suffer, be rejected, be killed, and be raised up. The dare of the gospel is that to answer who Jesus is, is to answer who his followers are. How do we answer who Jesus is. Liturgy

As of May 13, the parishes have raised $132,937 or 47% of the parish goal of $285,000.We are grateful to all those who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal. To make our goal, we need everyone’s participation. For your convenience, you can still make a pledge, and pay it in installments. The Bishop’s Appeal will formally end on December 31, 2013, so that you have ample time to fulfill your pledge. Our Catholic Schools, Catholic Charities and Evangelization efforts need your support. Your gift helps feed the hungry and gives safe shelter to mothers and children in desperate need. Please support the Bishop’s Appeal during this year when we seek to grow in our Catholic Faith, and put it ever more into action!

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP:
Commit yourself to God—and the stewardship way of life. Give thanks for all your God-given gifts. Serve God with your time, talent and treasure. Tithing provides a regular, predictable source of funding. This reduces the need for fundraising activities, and frees time and energy for other responsibilities of Christian life. Give with a loving, generous heart. “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Mt 6:20-21.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a reminder to support your church

MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES
God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
