TODAY (White) Acts 8:5-8, 14-17; 1Pt 3:15-18; Jn 14:15-21

NEXT WEEK (White) Acts 1:1-11; Eph 1:17-23; Mt 28:16-28

In John’s gospel, “world” refers to everything opposed to God and being obedient to Jesus’ commandments. The world sees neither Jesus nor the “Spirit of truth”; faithful disciples do. The world does not love; faithful disciples do. The world does not have life; Faithful disciples do. Faithful disciples see, love, and live because of the Father’s gift of the Spirit dwelling within them. This divine dwelling is God’s very love. We are to be God’s love made visible, that he the world may see Jesus, come to the truth, and choose to live in faithful love.

Pentecost Rally, Sunday, June 8, 2014, 3:00 p.m., Marian Hall

“I tithe with a deep conviction that is the correct, spiritual thing to do”, says Joseph. “I give without expecting anything in return. But it’s amazing what God can do, when you take him as partner. I’m a lot happier than way back when I used to give grudgingly, tight-fistedly, or sometimes not at all.” Tithing becomes easier if we set aside the Lord’s portion and give it to him. This weekend, take the time to pray, and meditate about how you can become better Stewards. Each one can live as God’s Steward. “From everyone to whom much has been given, much is expected required…”Luke 12:48.  Your giving is the key to the success of church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become GOOD STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a weekly reminder to support your church.

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
