Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost

TODAY (RED) Acts 2:1-11; 1 Cor12:3b-7, 12-13; Jn 20:19-23

NEXT WEEK (White) Prv 8:22-31; Rom 5:1-5; Jn 16-12-1

John’s Gospel tells us that when Jesus “breathed “ on the disciples, the Holy Spirit came into them, empowering them to forgive sins and to gather all people into union with one another. This message of unity in the Spirit is repeated in the readings from Corinthians. There are many gifts, many ways to serve. One way is not “higher”. nor one person “better” than another. There is but one “Spirit, who accomplishes all the different works we do, acting through us. Liturgy

As of May 13, the parishes have raised $132,937 or 47% of the parish goal of $285,000.We are grateful to all those who have donated to the Bishop’s Appeal. To make our goal, we need everyone’s participation. For your convenience, you can still make a pledge, and pay it in installments. The Bishop’s Appeal will formally end on December 31, 2013, so that you have ample time to fulfill your pledge. Our Catholic Schools, Catholic Charities and Evangelization efforts need your support. CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP:
God’s chosen people were taught in what spirit they were to make their offerings: “In generous spirit pay homage to the Lord, be not sparing of free will gifts. With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy. Give to the most high as he has given to you, generously, according to your means. For the Lord is one who always repays and he will give back to you sevenfold” (Sir 35:7-10).
Your giving is the key to the success of church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and becoming GOOD STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes (available in the Marian Hall) as a weekly reminder to support your church. Thank you and may God bless you for your kindness.
