Fifth Sunday of Lent

April 10, 2011

TODAY (Violet)                     NEXT WEEK (Red)           Ez 37:12-14                                                            Is 50:4-7

Rom 8:8-11                                                         Phil 2:6-11

Jn 11:1-45                                                 Mt 26:14—27:66

Why did Jesus wait two days to go to Bethany? If Jesus had chosen to go to Bethany when first called, he would have healed Lazarus. But healing would have been a very different sign. The raising of Lazarus is the sign of a new relationship that death is not final. Life is. Do we believe this sign? Do we live like we believe it? Are we willing, like Jesus, to stake our lives on it?
