TODAY (Violet)Gn 12:1-4a; 2 Tm 1:8b-10; Mt 17:1-9

NEXT WEEK (Violet) Ex 17:3-7; Rom 5:1-2, 5-8; Jn 4:5-42

What high mountain must we climb for us to witness Jesus’ transfiguration? We must climb the high mountain of listening to Jesus, the high mountain of being pleasing to him, the high mountain of opening ourselves to the touch of his Presence. When we climb these mountains, we forsake our own agenda of pitching the tent of satisfaction with our own works to enter into the glory of the Life Jesus offers us. The mountain is steep; the climb is ours to choose. Living Liturgy

All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are bound to observe days of fasting and abstinence during which no meat may be eaten. All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat. Lent is also a season in which prayer, the reception of the sacraments, charity and almsgiving are emphasized.
