Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

March 2, 2014

03/02/14 graphic

TODAY (Green) Is 49:14-15; 1 Cor 4:1-5; Mt 6:24-34

NEXT WEEK (Violet) Gen 2:7-9; 3:1-7; Rom 5:12-19; Mt 4:1-11

Jesus is clear: “do not worry.” Telling humans not to worry about tomorrow is like telling them not to be the center of their own lives. And that is exactly the point of
this gospel! The two masters are God or ourselves. Yes, we ourselves are the mammon. If we choose ourselves, we worry. If we choose God, we will feed on God’s generosity, be clothed in God’s gift of life, and be made rich in faith. This choice is sufficient not only for a day, but for a whole lifetime—even for all eternity.

WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP?
Stewardship is living out Christ’s instruction to “Love one another as I have loved you.” Stewardship is caring. Our offering of our time, talent, and treasure is one way of saying: We belong to the Lord and to one another.
It is an:
Act of Faith: We profess that we belong to God, and that all we possess is His.
Act of Trust: We place our life in God’s loving hands, and make Him our treasure.
Act of Worship: We adore Him as giver of all good gifts.
Act of Belonging: We unite our offerings with the rest of our Parish Family, so that together we might care for the needs of one another, especially the poor.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and becoming GOOD STEWARDS, by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall, as a weekly reminder to support your church.

SICK: Please keep in the charity of your prayers the sick amongst us. Doris Encarnacion, Alberta Hendrickson, Agneta C.
