TODAY (Green) Lv 19:1-2, 17-18; 1 Cor 3:16-23; Mt 5:38-48

NEXT WEEK (Green) Is 49:14-15; 1 Cor 4:1-5; Mt 6:24-34

All our human actions are finite and limited, so even going the extra mile, is still just one more mile. Giving our coat to another is still just a coat. Jesus is asking us to stop thinking in terms of measurements and begin acting in terms of how our heavenly Father treats us. God’s graces are showered upon all; God’s care is extended to all. God’s love is poured forth upon all. But most of all, God’s Son loved with his all. He showed us what “perfect” is: He gave himself. Again and again. Living Liturgy

Mathias Michael, Guitarist/Vocalist
Thursday & Friday, February 27-28, 2014, 6:30 p.m.
An unassuming appearance can be deceiving. To all intents and purposes, Mathias looks like a typical clean cut teenager; maybe the boy next door. But the moment you hear his voice and his songs, you realize he is anything but average! On his 18th birthday, Mathias traveled to 2011 NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference). With 20,000 other Catholic teens, he sang the songs and participated in the activities. On the final day, he competed in NCYC’S Top Talent, along with nine other gifted finalists. With just his guitar, Mathias shared a song he had specially written for the contest, “Pick Me Up today”. The testimony of his own personal faith journey set to music moved the audience and judges, and his choice sounded not so much like a High School teen, but a seasoned professional expressing his love of God through song. Even those who came to support someone else cheered in approval when Matthias was announced the winner.

There is much work to be done, and there is no time to waste! Make a plan: Make specific plans on how to achieve your goals. Use time effectively. Set aside some time each day for personal prayer. Use your gifts to help change the lives of others. Develop talents…God-given talents are a wonderful blessing; and developing your talents can be a source of fulfillment. Rejoice in your talents…God has given you unique gifts. Don’t focus on what you can’t do. Wisdom comes from appreciating your talents—and accepting your limitations! Use your talents…giving steward’s use their talents to improve other’s lives. Follow Jesus’ example and you’re your gifts to reach out to others. For example: Feed the hungry; Care for children and the elderly. House the homeless. Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and becoming GOOD STEWARDS, by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall, as a weekly reminder to support your church.

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord
