TODAY (Green) Sir 15:15-20; 1 Cor 2:6-10; Mt 5:17-37

NEXT WEEK (Green) Lv 19:1-2, 17-18; 1 Cor 3:16-23; Mt 5:38-48

What does it mean for Jesus to fulfill the law? Jesus sees in the law the means to the fulfillment of time, when the law will be replaced by righteous relationships within the kingdom of heaven. The fundamental relationship is gift of self to others. When self-giving is lacking in any act of keeping the law, the law in fact is not kept. We are to keep the law as the way to enter a manner of caring for and relating to others that leads to fullness of life.

HOLY CROSS CHURCH, CHRISTIANSTED
YOUTH AND ADULT CONCERT

Mathias Michael, Guitarist/Vocalist
Thursday & Friday, February 27-28, 2014, 6:30 p.m.
An unassuming appearance can be deceiving. To all intents and purposes, Mathias looks like a typical clean cut teenager; maybe the boy next door. But the moment you hear his voice and his songs, you realize he is anything but average! On his 18th birthday, Mathias traveled to 2011 NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference). With 20,000 other Catholic teens, he sang the songs and participated in the activities. On the final day, he competed in NCYC’S Top Talent, along with nine other gifted finalists. With just his guitar, Mathias shared a song he had specially written for the contest, “Pick Me Up today”. The testimony of his own personal faith journey set to music moved the audience and judges, and his choice sounded not so much like a High School teen, but a seasoned professional expressing his love of God through song. Even those who came to support someone else cheered in approval when Matthias was announced the winner.

The Mass of St. Lucia’s 35th Year of Independence will be celebrated at Sts. Joachim & Ann Catholic Church, Barrenspot, Sunday, February 23, 2014, 9:30 a.m. The St. Croix Community, especially St. Lucians, are invited to celebrate with us.

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP OF PROPERTY:
We bring nothing into this world...and we take nothing out of it. EVERYTHING that we have while we are here comes as a GIFT FROM GOD… In appreciation, we choose to share a portion of these gifts. The stewardship of our property is an ongoing process. We give regularly and systematically in proportion to the gifts which we are given…the talents which earn us our possessions. Because we love God, we gladly dedicate these gifts to God’s service. Giving money to the church is a symbolic act—the offerings of ourselves in service and devotion to God. Giving is a practical manner, too, because the offering makes it possible for the church to pay its bills, and carry out its mission in Christ’s name. The Bible says that we should set aside our “firsts fruits”—that our offering to God should be the first portion we set aside, not what remains.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and becoming GOOD STEWARDS, by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall, as a weekly reminder to support your church.
