Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 3, 2013

TODAY (Green)  Jer 1:4-5, 17-19, 1 Cor 12:31—13:13, Lk 4:21-30

NEXT WEEK Green) Is 6:1-2a 3-8, 1 Cor 15:1-11, Lk 5:1-11

Jesus understood his own prophetic role as one which would lead to rejection and, ultimately, death. When he spoke “gracious words” his message “amazed” his hearers and his message was accepted. But when he spoke challenging words, his hearers were “filled with fury.” Ultimately, God’s words not only lead to a new understanding of God and God’s ways, but they also lead to a new understanding of ourselves and our own call to hear Jesus’ words and live them. Even when they challenge us.

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP:
What are the rewards of Stewardship? We seek no “rewards” for our stewardship; we do it with the joy of serving God. Stewardship is the responsibility of the Christian life, making our prayers, worship, study of the Scriptures, Christian action truly sincere. Our whole life is a partnership with God. We cannot ‘give” anything to God; but we can “fulfill” God by using our gifts wisely and sharing with others
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a reminder to support your church
