Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
January 27, 2013

TODAY (Green) Neh 8:2-4a, 5-6, 8-10;  1 Cor 12:12-30; Lk 1:1-4, 4:14-21

NEXT WEEK Green) Jer 1:4-5, 17-19; 1 Cor 12:31—13:13; Lk 4:21-30

The Good News cannot be proclaimed only by Jesus. Those who come after Jesus are “to bring glad tidings” in many ways to many people. Now we ourselves are to be the bearers of the Good News that others may “realize the certainty” of the story we have received. It is not our words we speak, but God’s words of eternal life. So much is at stake in words! May our words speak—our deeds live—eloquently the Spirit who dwells within us!

CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP is the wise use of God’s gifts. As God’s steward, you’re called to: MANAGE YOUR RESOURCES WISELY—your time, talent, income and possessions. FOCUS ON SERVING GOD—and others. TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE in your church. Effective support of your church is wise stewardship. YOUR SUPPORT HELPS YOUR CHURCH TO BE A GOOD STEWARD, TOO! Your church is called to: Care for its members, in joy and sorrow. Fulfill its commitment to carry out God’s will. Reveal God’s Word to people, clearly and openly, through teaching, preaching, and by example. Strive to enrich the ways in which God works in our lives. By giving to the church, you put your resources in God’s hands.
Your giving is the key to the success of the church plans and programs. To help us meet our obligations, please pray about TITHING and become good STEWARDS by obtaining Offertory Envelopes available in the Marian Hall as a reminder to support your church

God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
