The Baptism of the Lord
January 13, 2013

TODAY (White) Is 40:1-5, 9-11, Ti 2:11-14; 3:4-7, Lk 3:15-16, 21-22

NEXT WEEK (Green) Is 62:1-5, 1 Cor 12:4-11, Jn 2:1-11

Because of the power of John’s baptism, the expectation of the people in the gospel is that they have found the Christ in John. John points the people, however, to Jesus who will bring an even more powerful baptism. The Holy Spirit descended upon us at our baptism; Jesus is the beloved Son, so are we beloved children; God was well pleased with Jesus, so is God well pleased with us. All we need to do to live as the beloved son lived.
