Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 22, 2008
TODAY (Green) NEXT WEEK (Red)
Jer 20: 10-13 Acts 12:1-11
Rom 5:12-15 2 Tm 4:6-8, 17-18 & nbsp;
Mt 10:26-33 Mt 16:13-19
Jesus tells the twelve (and us) that acknowledging him and doing his work will not be easy. This mission ought not be undertaken lightly because there will be opposition. Neither, however, ought the mission be undertaken with trepidation, because God does not abandon us. Forces will oppose this mission, but a promise of divine care will sustain us: Faithful disciples will be named in eternity. Living Liturgy

Peter’s Pence Collection
The theme for this year’s Collection—Christ Our Hope—echoes that of the Holy Father’s apostolic journey to the United States in April 2008. Contributions to the Peter’s Pence Collection…
Enable the Holy Father to respond with immediate emergency assistance to the most disadvantaged throughout the world—those who suffer as a result of war, oppression, disease, and natural disaster.
Provide an opportunity for Catholics to support the Holy Father’s mission—an active expression of Christ’s love for the poor—and stand in solidarity with Catholics worldwide.
Your contribution to the Peter’s Pence Collection allows the Holy Father to respond with timely and effective emergency assistance to our suffering brothers and sisters throughout the world. Thus, in solidarity with the Pope, we Catholics participate in the works of goodness that distinguish us as follows of the Gospel. This Collection will be taken in all the parishes in the Diocese of the Virgin Islands next weekend, June 28-29. Please be Generous.
RETURN OF A MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES
God of all goodness, look with love on those who wait for the safe return of their loved ones who serve in the armed forces of their country. In faith and hope we turn to you for comfort. Grant that we may trust in your mercy and send an angel to sustain us as we await their safe return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
